李宝林 1936年8月出生于吉林四平。1958年至1963年，就读于中央美术学院中国画系，此间曾担任北京市学生联合会副主席；1963年毕业后，成为中国人民解放军海军政治部创作室专职画家；1990年，转业到中国画研究院。现为中国画研究院一级美术师、院务委员，中国美术家协会中国画艺术委员会副主任，李可染艺术基金会副理事长，河山画会会长。文化部全国美术专业高级职称评审委员会委员。享受国务院授予的政府特殊津贴。
　　Li Baolin was born in August 1936 in Siping, Jilin Province. From 1958 to 1963, he studied in the Department of Chinese Painting at the Central Academy of Fine Arts and served during this period as vice-chairman of the Beijing Students Federation. Upon graduation in 1963, he became a full-time painter of the Artistic Creation Section of the navy Political Department of the Chinese People Liberation Army. Demobilized in 1990, he joined the Academy of Chinese Painting and is now an Artist of the First Grade of the Academy, member of the Academy Administrative Committee, vice-chairman of the Art Committee of Chinese Painting of the Chinese Artists Association, vice-chairman of the council of the Li Keran Art Foundation and chairman of the Society of Landscape Paintings. He also serves as a member of the Judging Committee for National Senior Artist Professional Titles of the Ministry of Culture and receives a special government subsidy of the State Councial.
